This past week, I was able to start and finish the heavenlike website. Since the company won't have all that much to post or show for their first collection, the website ended up being fairly easy to work on. Here is a breakdown of the site as of now.
The client told me that they wanted to emphasize the quality and feel of their clothes so i chose to make this simple three image layout highlighting just that. I chose the specific colors of the fabrics to establish the brand colors right away. Besides that, I wanted to keep the landing page very simple and clean so that it could give off a delicate, elegant feel right of the bat.
Very early on I knew I wanted to make the company's slogan a prominent mark on the website. At first I was pretty much set on making it a part of the landing page but as I tried different variations of that, I didn't like how the text took away from the simple and clean look of the landing page. I ultimately settled for putting it right underneath the landing page. I was really satisfied with the size and placement of the slogan since it looked like a solid part of the website without getting in the way of the costumer making it to the company's collection.
In order to show to show off the collection, I wanted to take a more editorial approach. I wanted the customer to feel as if they're looking through a look book instead of a clothing website. In order to keep this section of the website effective in getting the costumer to the actual collection, I only included six images in the editorial grid and a pop button on each image that takes the costumer straight to the full catalog.
-In the next post I'll be showing the results from the photoshoot-
